About

I created The Arvon Project – Grieving the Artist, to help fill a gap that I found existed in the information and support provided online for people experiencing grief.

When my dad died, I could have used a place where I felt I could find ideas of what to do with his artwork and materials. There can be a lot of brain fog in grief, and trying to research how to do things whilst stuck in a room full of chaos is a little daunting. Sometimes it’s not that we don’t know what to do, but that we are just too overwhelmed to work it out in those moments, so even just reading or watching someone else going through something similar can ease a bit of the mental burden and remove a mental hurdle or two preventing us from getting things done.

The aim of the project is to share my journey; to give examples of how I have stored my dad’s work, both temporarily and more permanently; and hopefully to inspire others to get involved and share their experiences and ideas. I want to make a space where those grieving don’t have to look very far to find useful information and ideas.

Therefore, I have created this website to share my experience, collate information for care and storage solutions, and hopefully to share other people’s stories. I hope this will provide a supportive network, a variety of ideas, and help to alleviate some of the mental burden for those navigating grief in this scenario.
